How to Be a Superhero: A Parent–Child Conversation Book

How to Be a Superhero is a publication designed for children aged 4–7 to be read alongside a parent, teacher, or guardian. The book helps adults navigate sensitive yet important topics, such as race, gender, gender roles, bullying, consent, and sustainability, in a way that feels approachable, age-appropriate, and engaging for young readers.

Written in short, playful rhymes with bright, minimal illustrations, the book encourages children to see diversity, kindness, and empathy as superpowers. Every character is represented with care to ensure balance across race, gender, and identity, avoiding bias or hierarchy. The square 9x9 format opens wide enough for comfortable shared reading, reinforcing the book’s role as a collaborative experience.

In addition to 14 thematic poems, the book includes five interactive games designed to reinforce its messages through play. From sorting recyclable waste to role-playing solutions for bullying, these activities invite children to think critically about their choices and reflect on how they can “find the superhero within.”

By combining storytelling, illustration, and game-based learning, How to Be a Superhero creates a safe, joyful entry point for conversations that build tolerance, compassion, and self-awareness in early childhood.
